Favorite tofu scramble seasoning mix
I love having a good seasoning mix on hand, especially in bulk!
Breakfasts are usually on the lighter side here on the homestead (unless we have guests, then I love to go all out!), but every so often we settle in to enjoy a big breakfast complete with pancakes, fresh juice, and of course, tofu scramble made with our favorite tofu scramble seasoning mix.
I like having pre-mixed tofu scramble seasoning on hand so I don’t have to get out a bunch of different spice jars while I’m already busy in the kitchen, but the one I buy at our local co-op is $6 for a little bag that barely lasts us two or three servings, whereas this one is both delicious and easy on the budget!
Having a jar of this bulk tofu scramble seasoning in the cupboard ready to go works great for us and it’s easy to use. To make our favorite tofu scramble we use 2-3 tablespoons of this seasoning per pound of tofu. Sometimes we add a bit more salt (especially if we’re adding veggies to the scramble) but I like having control over that in the moment that I am cooking.
Make it
To make this easy-peasy tofu scramble seasoning, you just need to gather the ingredients and mix ’em together. It’s really that easy.
I mixed them in a bowl and transferred it to a mason jar for storage, but you can also just mix it in the jar so you don’t dirty a bowl.
Just remember to give the jar a shake before you use it each time to recombine all the spices. Not only is this mix delicious on tofu scramble, it’s great on fresh popcorn or even sprinkled over salads.
Bulk Tofu Scramble Seasoning
Ingredients
- ½ cup nutritional yeast
- 1 ½ tsp onion powder
- 1 ½ tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp dill weed, dried
- ¼ tsp ground cumin
- ¼ tsp ground turmeric
- 1 tsp fine sea salt
- ½ tsp freshly cracked black pepper
Instructions
- Add all ingredients into a bowl and whisk together.
- Place mix into a sealable jar and give the jar a shake to recombine ingredients before each use.
